Frequently Asked Questions

Will you accept my insurance?

I currently accept the following plans: Aetna, Beacon Health, Blue Cross/Excellus, Cigna, Empire, Fidelis, Magellan, Medicare, Molina (Totalcare), Optum Health, Pomco, Tricare, UBH, and ValueOptions.

What will counseling cost me?

Insurance companies are billed directly and the client’s cost is limited to the co-pay for each visit. Co-pays vary by plan so it’s best to check with your insurance carrier for the exact amount.

Do you have a sliding Fee?

No. Contracting with insurance companies often requires providers to charge each client the same fee. I do accept a limited number of pro bono cases if individuals lack insurance or face financial hardship.

How long are sessions?

Typically sessions run 45-60 minutes. I allow more time if needed for an initial visit to gather information and give you all the time you need to talk about the problems you’re dealing with.

What is your approach or what methods do you use?

I practice a strength based approach that builds on a person’s skills, resilience and experience in life. I use cognitive behavioral techniques and a blend of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment therapies.

How much notice should I give if I need to cancel?

Please try to give at least 24 hours notice before the appointment time. However, I understand the unpredictable happens. I appreciate a phone call letting me know if the appointment needs to be cancelled.

Where are you located?

The office is located at 84 North Main Street in Cortland, NY. The entrance is on the south side of the building off the parking lot. The office is on the first floor and is wheelchair accessible.
